Here's a great "feel good" letter from one of the original "testers" of Duurstede®!
After finishing as a youngster, Norm decided that being a couch potato and
simply our "best buddy" was far preferable to showing himself off so from
the age of 3 that's exactly what he did - well, until now. With the
encouragement of some special friends and the miracle of Duurstede Grooming
Products (as always!), we entered a show.
As I walked into the ring, there were questions in my mind. Would Norm
remember what to do? Would he behave? Most importantly, would he have
fun? The worry was needless. Our gentle couch potato was transformed into
a ball of fire gaiting out at the end of the lead taking my heart with him
exactly as he did in his younger days. When Mr. Haverstock pointed to Norm
as his Group winner it was very emotional indeed. You see folks, Norm will
be 10 years young in a couple of weeks. It had been SEVEN YEARS since he'd
been in the ring! Could he do it again? You bet! He took a Group third
under Ms. P. Miller the same weekend. Thanks to both judges for making
this such a great weekend.
There are some very special people whose work behind the scenes made this
possible and who deserve our heartfelt thanks. The vets and staff at
Brockville Animal Hospital - without their expertise, skill and huge
hearts, Norm wouldn't be here at all. We call you "the Gods of the vet
world" for a reason! Dr. Debbie (Boyd) - an invaluable source of
information who always makes time in her busy schedule to help friends.
Brenda (you know who you are) - for saying, "If you don't enter this dog,
you're nuts!". Last but certainly not least, Bill Van Wyck - for
developing his fabulous Duurstede Products so our dogs look their best but
more importantly for his unflagging support and constant friendship.
Norm is sleeping on the couch again. Life is good!
