After you read this letter from Lou Ann Temkin, you will think we pay for our testimonials...but honestly, we don't! The AKC collie standard is very specific about coats: "The well-fitting, proper-textured coat is the crowning glory of the rough variety of Collie. It is abundant except on the head and legs. The outer coat is straight and harsh to the touch. A soft, open outer coat or a curly outer coat, regardless of quantity is penalized. The undercoat, however, is soft, furry and so close together that it is difficult to see the skin when the hair is parted." (From the American Kennel Club Standard for Rough Collies) Many of the shampoos and conditioners I tried succeeded in making my collies' coats soft, silky, fragrant, and shiny. However, I wanted a correct collie coat on my three collies, in or out of the breed/obedience/agility ring. I read about Duurstede after discovering their web site during a search for show grooming products. I was impressed with the research that Mr. Van Wyck had done and I ordered a trial pack of Duurstede - Shampoo, Conditioner, Additive, and Revitalizer. I bathed and treated my collies with it, and as soon as they were dried I was online ordering more Duurstede! These products deliver what they promise. My collies' coats were finally the way they were supposed to be - nice harsh outer coats with soft full undercoats. And a wonderful healthy glow with no added coloring or enhancers. The Additive whitens brilliantly when mixed with the Conditioner or Shampoo - great for stained paws. The water-based Styling Gel is very effective at adding more body to the coat and holding it in place. Because nothing oily or artificial builds up on the dogs' hair, they seem to stay clean longer, too. Duurstede is an excellent system of dog hair care products.
