About Our System

I'm often asked, "What's the best way to use the Duurstede® line of grooming products to get maximum benefits for my dog's coat?"

The answer is easy and applies to all coat-types:

Step One: Cleaning

 Wet the coat thoroughly with lukewarm water.

 Alternately add Duurstede® Shampoo and water until a lather just begins to appear.

 Leave the shampoo on the coat for 2 to 3 minutes to enable the "goodies" in our shampoo to be absorbed and bond with the coat.

 Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

 I recommend that you use Duurstede® Shampoo-EF around the head and muzzle to minimize eye irritation.

Step Two: Conditioning/protein application

 Following the directions on the bottles, mix a small amount of Duurstede® Conditioner and Duurstede® Additive. The amount of product will vary with the amount of coat being conditioned and will decrease with repeated applications.

 Work the mixture into the coat and leave it on for 2 to 10 minutes — less time for wiry coats, more time for silky or overly-dry coats.

 Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, then towel-dry the coat.

Step Three: Protecting

 Apply a small amount of Duurstede® Revitalizer to your hands, then rub it onto the coat. Apply extra Revitalizer on those areas where soiling is a problem.

 Dry and style as you would normally.

Yes, my system may take a few minutes longer than other grooming systems, but I'm certain you will find that the results — a manageable, lustrous coat — justify the additional time!
